Dubai: The Emirates Dubai 7s has today announced that it had been approved by the Crisis Committee to take place on December 2-4th, 2021.
Tickets will go on sale on September 30th at midday (UAE) on www.dubairugby7s.com/tickets
Following extensive discussions with local and global stakeholders, the organisers can confirm that the world-famous sports and entertainment festival will take place on National Day weekend at the end of the year.
Emirates Dubai 7s Tournament Director Tom Burwell said today, "We are excited to be in the position to deliver the Emirates Dubai 7s in the way that we have become accustomed to over the past 50 years. Meaning HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, Invitational & Gulf Rugby, Cricket, Netball, live music and most importantly fans and plenty of them."
"It has been two long years since we welcomed the world of rugby 7s and the flags of the world to The Sevens Stadium. I can assure everyone it is going to be an extraordinary occasion when 7s finally returns."
"I want to thank the Crisis Committee and leadership of Dubai who has worked with us over the past months and approved our proposals to deliver the Emirates Dubai 7s with fans from all over the world in our famous grandstand and across the festival site."
"We, of course, will be taking precautions and placing the health and safety of all in attendance at the forefront. We have developed a strong protocol to support this, which will involve evidence of PCR Negative or Vaccination upon entry to the festival. We will also be delivering a crowd management strategy, but most importantly, we will be welcoming back 100,000 fans to The Sevens Stadium on December 2-4th."
The Sevens Stadium will also host a second HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series tournament on 26-27th November. This tournament will be behind closed doors and produced just for broadcast. It is not to be confused with the full Emirates Dubai 7s taking place on 2nd-4th December.
