Dubai 7s for Good is Emirates Dubai 7s CSR program. We are now in our 3rd year of working with a primary school in Mbale, Uganda, to supply valuable resource in the form of coaching, infrastructure, education and empowerment.

Dubai 7s For Good in 2023 

2023 was year 2 of the Dubai 7s for Good program, and in July 2023, the Emirates Dubai 7s team and three rugby coaches from Dubai spent 7 days in Mbale – a region in the Eastern part of Uganda.

The program focuses on North Road Primary, Mbale, a school with over 3200 students. The focus for year 3 was based on three deliverables – Rugby development, infrastructure, and community development.

Thanks to the AED 450,000 raised from the 2022 Emirates Dubai 7s Long Lunch, the team with local contractors assisted with the renovation works of two school blocks, Blocks 3 & 4 (in 2022 Blocks 1 & 2 were completed). Each block is divided up into classrooms where over 100 students will sit to learn in each classroom.

The biggest impact from year 2 was the drilling of a 100m water well on the school campus. The well now provides the school and Mbale community with over 30,000 litres of fresh water per day. 16 water stations were also built, and the well is run entirely from a solar power system.

Dubai 7s For Good 2024

We are thrilled to announce the plans for the 3rd year of the program. Emirates Dubai 7s Long Lunch 2023 raised a staggering AED 540,000, and with the additional AED 32,000 raised in the Hospitality Chalet at the festival this year, the plans for the project's developments are as follows for 2024:  

• New rugby (sports) pitch for the school, including rugby and football posts
• Permanent bleachers with shade for spectators
• A full renovation of the teachers living quarters which is home to 12 of the school teachers and their families.
